To lend a helping hand to those who need them badly and enjoy a healthy lifestyle while you’re at it. Senden Home Foundation, Inc. respond to the needs of "Homeless Boys" such as, summer training, education, home and parental visitations, health and hygiene, sports and recreation, guidance and counseling.

The Beneficiary

Senden Home sprouted from a simple act of kindness by a man who dreamt of a better life for the needy and a voice for the voiceless.

When the visionary Rev. Fr. Francis Senden, CICM encountered street children in Manila in the 60’s, all he wanted to do was to make lives better for these street children by providing them food – their daily bread, so to speak. Little did he know that such act was to become the foundation of a legacy that continues to this day to help those in need. In fact, it led to the establishment of a Home that continues to provide care and shelter for street children.

Senden Home Foundation was inaugurated on February 24, 1974 as a “home for homeless boys” to respond to the needs of street children. Following Fr. Senden’s socio-pastoral idealism, the Foundation’s mission is to “bring about a society where street children and youth need not have to take to the streets for survival or refuge, but identify and define their sense of belonging in their families and communities.”

To carry out its mission and objectives, the Foundation has different programs and services intended to help its recipient-children grow into responsible citizens imbibed with the principle of respect for others, and the consciousness of the value of human dignity.

These programs include the reception and temporary shelter for street children and homeless children, and residential care and training for their families. With these, the children are given access to education, home-life training including health and hygiene, and sports and recreation. Guidance and counseling is also provided by professionals employed by the Foundation in keeping with its vision of “a community of families oriented to the Christian values of respect and dignity of the child as a human being and as a citizen.”

Other programs include post-residential care and grown-up league to make sure that the Foundation keeps constant contact with its former residents as they continue their lives outside Senden Home. The components of the program include assisting the children and their families in the reintegration process, providing educational assistance, and helping the former residents become independent.

Today, it is recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as “a legitimate social welfare agency for homeless children, street children and deserving individuals.” Currently the shelter has 17 children under the care of 13 staff members and one volunteer. It also has 67 scholars at different levels from elementary to college, and is providing assistance to a total of 57 families.
