Talking about Bicol Region the Provice of Camarines Sur has a lot more to showcase, from the beautiful tourist attractions, religious and cultural centers, white beaches (Caramoan), historical landmarks, mountains (Mount Isarog and Mount Asog) and a lot more. 

Camarines Sur which is the largest province in the six provinces of Bicol Region lies at the center of Bicol Peninsula. This province is mostly agricultural-based. Out of the 35 towns, 29 towns are mainly agricultural, producing rice, corn, feed-meal, freshwater fish, livestock, coconut, sugar, abacá, and water-lily. 

This province are surrounded by mountains, Mount Isarog and Mount Asog and Caramoan Peninsula which faces Catanduanes island to the east. 

Have you heard about an old volcano located at Camarines Sur? 

Mount Asog or Mount Iriga is a dormant old volcano the lies along Iriga City and Buhi Camarines Sur stunningly standing 1,140 MASL with difficulty level of 4/9 similar to Mount Cristobal of Southern Tagalog.

First part of the trail are houses of the local (agta tribe) that will lead you to the foot of the mountain entering the enclosed private properties at some part. Mount Asog are exposed to sun with ninety percent plus assault. Wear gloves, bring sun/rain protection, apply sunblock and bring extra hydration because there is no presence of water source along the trail.

How to get Mount Asog?

From Manila:

1. Ride a bus bound to Iriga City, tell the driver to drop you at Barangay San Nicolas. (Fare: 600 - 1000 php depending on the bus you choose) 

2. From San Nicolas, hire a tricycle bound to Sitio Ilian - Jump off of Mount Asog. (Minimum fare)

The best side-trip after your hike is a visit to the famous Lake Buhi where you can find Pandaka pygmaea and the best tilapia of Bicol Region - Tilapiang BUHI.

Buhi is located in the southeastern part of the province of Camarines Sur. It is bound on the east by Mount Malinao, on the west by Mount Asog and Iriga City, on the north by Sagñay-Buhi mountain ranges and on the south by the low-lying ranges of Polangui, Albay.

Iriga City 

Located at the heart of Bicol Economic Growth Corridor and one of the fastest growing cities in the region. It has evolved into an eco-tourism, agro-economic and educational hub with two big universities in the city.
